Our office is located at 5 Vacation Way in McHenry, MD between the Garrett County Visitor’s Center and the Railey Realty Office. Our office is open daily from 9:00a.m. – 6:00p.m. with the exception of Easter Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. All reservations are subject to an administrative fee, a 6% Maryland state tax, 6% county accommodation tax, damage waiver fee, and trip cancellation insurance. Tariffs are subject to change without notice and any increases in tariffs are the sole responsibility of the leaseholder.
Reservations from Labor Day to Mid-June are a 2 night minimum stay for most homes, with the exception of certain holidays which require a 3 night minimum stay. Holidays which typically require a 3 night minimum stay include: Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend, Labor Day Weekend, Thanksgiving Week, New Year’s Eve, and President’s Day Weekend.
Mid-June to Late August reservation typically require a 7 night stay. Lake front homes are primarily rented on a Saturday-Saturday basis, while townhomes and all other homes are rented primarily Sunday-Sunday. However, we do also offer a large variety of homes, townhomes, condos, and hotel suites which provide shorter rental periods based on your selection of arrival and departure dates.
Arrivals November – March should be prepared for winter weather conditions. Due to the potential of bad weather & snowy conditions, snow tires and/or chains or a 4WD vehicle may be necessary and are strongly recommended for all rentals during the winter season. We will make every attempt to clear driveways as quickly as possible, but are not responsible for any roadways or access points outside of the rental driveway. Outdoor BBQ grills are not guaranteed for any reservations from November – March due to winter conditions.
Two Bundles of firewood will be provided for participating properties [call for availability] with a wood burning fireplace Sept. 15th – Apr. 15th, as a complimentary starter package. You can call our office to ask about availability of more than the two bundles [additional fees apply] or purchase additional bundles from any of the local gas stations.
Rental Homes for Sale
In the event that the property you are renting is on the market for sale, we may find the need to show the property during your stay. We will make every effort to schedule the showing at a convenient time so as not to interrupt your vacation. As our “Thank You” for your cooperation, you will receive a $20.00 dining certificate (information on location choices will be given to you at the time of scheduling a showing.)
Deep Creek Lake is a growing resort community and new construction is evident throughout the area. If you rent a home near new construction, please be tolerant of the possible additional noise and other concerns. Please realize that this situation is a matter beyond our control and no refunds or moves will be made due to these circumstances.
Access Type Definitions
Deep Creek Lake is surrounded by a buffer zone which is protected by the Department of Natural Resources. The DNR regulates the cutting of trees, the construction of permanent structures and the general use of this buffer zone. These regulations protect the integrity of our lake and ensure that the natural beauty of the shoreline will continue.
Lake Front: refers to any property that borders on this buffer zone. Lakefront means you have access to the water for swimming and you can go directly from your door to the water with no road in between. Lake Front does not necessarily mean you have a view of the water, as much of our shoreline is wooded.
Split Lake Front: refers to any property that borders on the buffer zone, but there is a road between the house and the water. The property owner owns the land on the other side of the road, but you must cross the road to access the water for swimming. Split Lake Front also does not necessarily mean you have a view of the water, since much of our shoreline is wooded.
Lake Access: refers simply to the fact that you have a place to access the water for swimming. The property owner does not own the access area. You may be able to walk to the water or you may need to drive to the area, and a view of the water is also not guaranteed.
State Park Access: refers to participating properties that offer a state park pass (1 pass for home with 2-3 bedrooms, or 2 passes for homes with 4-6 bedrooms). The park passes are available only for weeklong summer reservations. Each park pass will allow 1 carload of people to access the beach and hiking trails of Deep Creek Lake State Park.
Lake Area: refers to any home which does not come with any type of access to the lake. When renting a home labeled with this type of access, you will want to make arrangements with local marinas and/or state parks to obtain lake and/or dock access during your stay. While these homes may not have lake access, they potentially offer many other great benefits, such as: beautiful mountaintop views, quiet communities, short drives to activities and restaurants, as so much more!
Ski In/Ski Out: refers to homes that provide direct access from the house to the ski slopes at Wisp Resort without driving or crossing a road by foot. The convenience to the slopes in winter is their best amenity! Some of our homes in the Lake Access/Lake Area categories may also be considered a Ski In/Ski Out property.
Ski Area: refers to a home with easy access to the ski slopes at Wisp Resort, within a range of up to 500ft. Ski Area homes may require you to drive a very short distance and/or cross a road by foot. Some homes under the Lake Access/Lake Area categories may also be considered a Ski Area property.
Golf Area: refers to a selection of our properties which are the most conveniently located within or near a golfing community. Some homes under the Lake Access/Lake Area categories may also be considered a Golf Area property.
Please ask our reservation specialists any specific questions you have regarding these access types and they will be happy to assist you. On our website, we have also provided a picture of the view towards the lake (either from the home or the lakeshore) during the summer months for our Lake Front and some of our Lake Access homes.
Dog Friendly Homes
There is no need to leave your dog in a cramped kennel while you are enjoying the Lake! There are many homes that welcome your dog to vacation with you for a designated fee. In most homes, pets are limited to two domestic, housebroken dogs. Sorry, kitty will have to find a friend to stay with because cats, other animals and birds are not allowed. There is a non-refundable pet fee for each dog; this fee should appear on your confirmation. Let us know when making your reservation if your furry friend is coming along. Please abide by the pet rules, which will be in your arrival key packet. Pets in non-pet homes are strictly forbidden and will result in eviction. Pets in pet homes must be registered on your reservation billing and paid for prior to your arrival.

Docks are not guaranteed for reservations between Labor Day and Memorial Day (Sept. – May). Please call the reservations department to verify dock availability. Be careful around docks, they tend to be slippery when wet. Check the website listing for your particular rental Unit to verify the number of dock slips permitted with your rental home. Please check with Department of Natural Resources (301-387-4111) or the Chamber of Commerce (301-387-6171) regarding boating and personal watercraft regulations including size limitations, horsepower, times of use, launching, etc. IF STAYING IN THE CARMEL COVE COMMUNITY, A PONTOON BOAT MAY NOT BE SUCCESSFULLY ACCOMMODATED AT YOUR PROPERTY. If planning to rent a Pontoon boat, please check with local marinas about availability to rent when staying at one of the properties located in this area.
Dock Type Definitions
Private: accessible only by the occupants of the single house and may accommodate 1-2 boats depending on the dock permit issued by the Department of Natural Resources. The property owner’s boat may be docked at the pier, but is not available for the guest’s use. Please do not disturb or board the boat.
Community: a number of houses have use of the community dock. Each property has access to one slip which may be located anywhere from a short walk, up to a short drive. Please use the slip number assigned to your house. If you have any questions regarding the slip number and/or dock location, please call any of our reservation specialists for assistance or check the welcome book located within your rental home.
We do not accept money orders (including international money orders), cashier’s checks, PayPal, money transfers, treasurer’s checks, certified checks, official bank checks or traveler’s checks.
ARRIVAL DATES WITHIN 30 DAYS: Full payment is due at the time of booking by cash (U.S. currency only) or credit card. If the contract and full payment are not received by the due date, the property may be released for general sale. A $45.00 bank charge will be applied for all returned checks.
ARRIVAL DATES BEYOND 30 DAYS: Payment will be accepted in the following forms: cash (U.S. currency only. Please do not send in the mail.), personal or business checks, and/or credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, & American Express). If the contract and payment amount as indicated on your payment schedule aren’t received by the due date, the property may be released for general sale. A $45.00 bank charge will be applied for all returned checks.
Cancellations & Reservation Charges
In the event your plans change and your rental must be canceled by you, regardless of reason, including bad weather, illness, death or economic factors, advance payments cannot be returned unless the property is re-rented at no loss to the Owner. All cancellations or reservation changes must be made in writing. Only the Guest can cancel a reservation. Deposit money (minus the administrative fee, cancellation fee, and travel insurance where applicable) cannot be returned unless the property is re-rented at no loss to the Owner. If we are unable to re-rent the property, the full advance payment will be forfeited. As an alternative, if you have accepted the Traveler’s Insurance and you must cancel, you may be able to make a claim through the insurance company.

Mountain Trip Preserver offers broadest limits:
- Up to $100,000 reimbursement for rental costs
- $200 per day ($750 maximum) for expenses related to trip delay such as hotel accommodations

What is Provided?

Most units offer a telephone, which enables the caller to make local calls at no charge. Some homes have unlimited long distance service. Please check the list of amenities for your particular home. Not all Units are guaranteed to have home phones and/or cell phone service and we recommend you check with your local service provider about the availability of cell phone service in the area. In other homes, all long distance calls are to be made collect or paid by calling card. No long distance or toll calls are to be charged to the rental home phone. (Swallow Falls Cabins offer access to a shared landline among the 4 cabins.)
Home amenities are not listed on the contract and no warranties are made as to accuracy. If any appliance, heating or cooling Unit, jetted tub, hot tub, television, or DVD player does not work, we will attempt to have it repaired. Refunds aren’t entitled for an inoperative appliance or amenity. Units are not equipped with air conditioning unless stated in the online description. RMLV does not guarantee any recreational equipment provided by the Owner. Visit your home’s page for updates to new, removed, and/or changed amenities.
Upon arrival, you will find a welcome bag equipped with: paper towels (1 roll), small box of laundry detergent, small dish detergent, sponge, starter coffee packet, DCL bumper sticker and/or coasters, and our newest brochure! This bag and all its’ contents are yours to keep!

Early Check-In & Late Check-Out for Summer
The ECI/LCO program allows you to get the most from your vacation. Avoid waiting in lines and get a jump-start on arrival day or take some extra time on departure day (refer to standard check-in/check-out times under “Check-In Information”). To take total advantage of your vacation time, you can sign up for both early arrival and late departure (separate fees for each option). This program is available on a limited basis year-round, and a fee applies. Please refer to the following chart for more information on ECI/LCO (based on availability & for participating properties only).

Railey Mtn. Lake Vacation’s main office is located at 5 Vacation Way, McHenry, MD 21541. Our office is open every day from 9AM to 6PM Saturday – Thursday, and 9AM to 8PM on Fridays (Extended hours until 8PM Saturday & Sunday during the Summer season). Keys and directions to your property are to be picked up at our office no earlier than your scheduled arrival day and time. The contract holder must present photo identification for validation before any keys will be given out. Anyone over the age of 24 with valid photo identification and whose name is listed on the occupancy list will have access to pick up the keys to your rental, unless our office is instructed otherwise by the lease holder. Keys will not be given to anyone under 24 years of age. Please plan your key pickup accordingly.
You can visit the “Directions & Maps” section of our website, to find detailed directions on how to locate our office when traveling from the areas of Baltimore, Washington D.C., East Pittsburgh, and West Pittsburgh areas.
If you will be arriving after office house, please make sure your rent is paid in full and your rental agreement has been signed. Keys will not be put in the after-hours box unless we have you paid in full with a signed agreement. It may be necessary to come to the rental office the following morning to complete the check-in process. Keys and directions to your vacation home will be in our locked key box located at the rear of the building. In order to offer a more secure after-hours access, this area is enclosed, well lit, and monitored by a security camera. The key box combination is given to you in your pre-arrival email and can also be accessed in your guest portal under “arrival information”.
You will be given two sets of door keys (and a hot tub key if applicable) in your check-in packet. Keys will not be given to anyone under 24 years of age. Please be sure to return all keys to our rental office upon checkout. For those staying at Ski Harbor or within the Blakeslee Community, a $50 charge will be assessed if the key for the swimming pool is not returned upon check out. Some properties are equipped with keyless entry. Upon check-in, you will be given a time and date sensitive code. Please share this code with members of your party (we recommend you snap a photo on your phone and send it to everyone in your group).
The maximum parking for your rental is as indicated on our website under the “Location” tab. You will also receive this information at check in and it will be listed in the “Welcome Book” at your rental home. Not all homes and/or communities allow boat/trailer parking at the home,; please check with our office for availability. For homes which do allow boat/trailer parking, this is considered “2” vehicles towards your maximum parking limit. All vehicles over maximum occupancy and/or in roadways are at risk for towing at any time without warning and at the leaseholder’s expense.
Hot Tubs and Private Pools
Many of our homes offer private hot tubs and pools. For week long reservations, a hot tub technician will stop by the home to check the hot tub and make any necessary adjustments. Private pools require daily testing by our certified technicians to provide optimum water quality. These tests are required by our county government to insure your safety and enjoyment.
All private pools are equipped with an alarm and/ or safety cover. This is required by building codes. Dismantling the alarm is considered willful damage to the property and is NOT covered by the Accidental Damage Program. The minimum charge for dismantling the alarm is $500. The lease holder is financially responsible should anyone in their party dismantle the alarm and/or the pool safety cover. The lease holder is also fully responsible for any circumstances that could occur should the alarm or pool safety cover be rendered ineffective.
If there are any problems with the hot tub and/or swimming pool including any mechanical, electrical or chemical problem, please call the property management office of Railey Mtn Lake Vacations at 301-387-0080 immediately. Do not enter the hot tub and/or swimming pool.

- Empty & Wipe Out Refrigerator.
- Straighten & Organize Furniture as Found.
- Leave Beds Unmade & Linens in the Room.
- Place Trash in Bear-Proof Bins at Top of Driveway or Community Dumpster. (For Excess Trash, Please Call Our Office for Disposal Instructions. DO NOT leave excess trash outside trash receptacles.)
- Lock all Windows & Doors.
- Return Keys & Rented DVDs to the Office by Check-Out Time.
- Please Donate Any Unwanted Canned Food at Departure. (Your donations will benefit a local charity. Thanks for your generosity!)
We ask that you please return to our office at 5 Vacation Way, McHenry, MD 21541 with any keys you were given for your stay. If you were given codes in place of keys, we ask that you call us upon departure (1-800-846-7368), so we know you’ve left the home and can begin getting it ready for the next guests! If you’re leaving before the rental office opens at 9:00a.m., you may leave your keys in the locked key box at the rear of our office (the combination will be given to you on your pre-arrival email and can also be accessed in your guest portal under “arrival information”.)

Reservations for Same Time, Same Place
We can book your Deep Creek vacation one full year in advanced – BOOK NOW for the best selection! Railey Mtn. Lake Vacations offers you FIRST RIGHTS to reserve the home you stayed in this year, for the same timeframe the next year. If you wish to confirm your reservation for the same property the following year, you have until 5:00p.m. the Tuesday following your arrival date. All homes will be made available to the general public each Thursday at 9:00a.m.
If you wish to reserve a different home, you will have the opportunity to finalize your plans on the Thursday following your arrival. Please check with a Railey Mtn. Lake Vacations reservationist for current rates and availability.
